3 Craziest Wars In History

They say: 'Everything is fair in war and love'. Wars happen when ideas conflict, when two nations have opposing ideas and then they take one step ahead in making those ideas real and the other nation strikes. Today we are sharing a short but really cool list of 5 craziest that did happen in history but they were in fact totally bizarre and crazy, now you'll be thinking that made them bizarre and crazy? So for knowing that you must read the following list:

1) Anglo-Zanzibar War - The war that lasted for like 40 Minutes

Indeed, this war holds the place to be the shortest war in the history. This war was fought between the United Kingdom and Zanzibar on 27th of August, 1896. The conflict lasted for a total of 40 minutes. The reason of the war was the demise of the pro-British Sultan Hamad bin Thuwaini and the succession of Sultan Khalid bin Barghash. The authorities in the United Kingdom wanted Hamud bin Muhammed to succeed as the new Sultan. According to a treaty signed in 1886, a condition for accession to the sultancy was that the candidate obtain the permission of the British Consul, and Khalid had not fulfilled this requirement. The British considered this a casus belli and sent an ultimatum to Khalid demanding that he order his forces to stand down and leave the palace. In response, Khalid called up his palace guard and barricaded himself inside the palace.

The ultimatum which was given to the new Sultan by the British authorities expired at 09:00 on 27 August and by this time the Britons had gathered 150 marines, three cruisers, two gunships, and sailors and 900 Zanzibaris in the harbour area. A bombardment which was opened at 09:02 set the palace on fire and disabled the defending artillery. The flag at the palace was shot down and fire ceased at 09:40. The Sultan's forces sustained roughly 500 casualties, while the Britons had only one sailor injured.

2) The Pig War

The Pig War was a confrontation between the United States of America and the United Kingdom in 1859 over a boundary between two countries.

The area in dispute was San Juan Islands. It is called the Pig War because in it a pig was the only casualty of the war, and thus it was essentially bloodless.

3) The Day Austria Defeated Itself

The Battle of Karánsebes took place on the evening of 17th of September, 1788. This was actually part of the war against the most powerful empire of that time, the Ottoman Empire ruled by Muslims. The Army of Austria, approximately 100,000 strong was setting up a camp in the town of Karánsebes (now Caransebeş, in Romania) on the evening of the 17th September. The army's vanguard, a contingent of hussars, crossed the river Timiş nearby to scout for the presence of the enemy - who in this case was the Ottoman Empire. There was no sign of an Ottoman army, but the hussars did run into a group of Gypsies, who saw the opportunity to make a load of money and offered to sell the tired soldiers some schnapps. The cavalrymen gladly handed over the money and started drinking heavily.

Soon afterwards some infantry of the Austrian Army crossed the river. When they saw their fellow army men partying hard (for the Gypsies also offered girls), the infantry demanded some booze of their own. The hussars refused to turn over any of the schnapps, and in their drunken mood set up makeshift fortifications around the barrel. A heated argument ensued, and somebody fired a shot.

The infantry and the hussars commenced now charging on each other furiously and someone from the infantry shouted "Turci! Turci!" ("Turks! Turks!") and to make matters worse some leaders shouted and told the armies to stop by hollering "Halt! Halt!" in an attempt to restore order - the Austrian army misheard this shouting as "Allah! Allah!", strengthening their belief that they were actually facing Turks.

Two days later Muslim army arrived and found 10,000 Austrians killed and heavily injured soldiers, they easily became victorious.
